Brief history - The New York colony was first founded in 1626 by Peter Minuit and other Dutch settlers, their settlement was called New Amsterdam . Today it is now known as New York City. It became NYC when the British took over and King Charles ll gave New York as a proprietary colony to The Duke of York in1664.
- Geography : Ports, forest, fertile soil , Natural resources such as timber, coal, iron ore & furs
- The Hudson river and many water ways/ports are leading to the success of trade in New York. The middle colonies are known as the Bread colonies because the fertile soils is perfect for wheat farming! There are many forest that colonist may use for timber trade. Iron ore creates plows, tools, locks, kettles, and nails to be exported to England or used in the colony.
- Religion: There are many religions in New York that included Quakers, Catholics, Lutherans, Jews and more.
The economy is booming with the Dutch West/East India Company, our trading has created a very wealthy colony. we are the first ever Colony to have a multinational corporation in the world! we can negotiate treaties, coin money, and issue stock .
